Gilla Band release new single 'Alogia' with music video

Dublin quartet Gilla Band have released their newest single 'Alogia' with an accompanying music video. It is their second single leading up to the release of their fourth LP, Pugnello, on September 25.

“Alogia means poverty of speech linked to mental health conditions,” said vocalist Dara Kiely. “I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia while writing the lyrics. I thought I could just walk off the old mental illness but alas!”

A pre-release listening event will take place on September 23 at The Big Romance. The music will be followed by a Q&A with the band and Ian Lynch of Lankum. There will also be merch for sale, plus giveaways.

Tickets to the listening party are available here. A second listening event takes place in London on September 24.

Their 2015 debut album Holding Hands With Jamie, also about mental health struggles, received widespread critical acclaim.

Gilla Band embark on a Europe tour in early 2027, though no performances have been announced in Ireland.
