Saul Williams announces Cork and Dublin dates

New York native Saul Williams has announced gigs in Cork’s Savoy on March 11 and Dublin’s The Sugar Club on March 12.

It comes as part of a huge headline tour set to kick off in New York on February 28, before heading to Europe and the UK in March with dates in London, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Paris and more.

The 2027 tour supports Williams’ first album in seven years Leap Life, which was released last month via Big Dada, the label that released his earliest solo work.

Accompanying the announcement, the musician also unveils the Ibrahem Hassan and Karolina Wielocha co-directed video for the single ‘The Dagger’.

Williams describedLeap Life as an attempt to connect with the dead, saying: "We're going to need those spirits.

"There's an understanding that the soldiers in our struggle are not only the visible ones,” he continued. “There are people standing and fighting with us that we may not see."

It includes collaborations from the likes of Gonjasufi, Moor Mother, Carlos Niño, Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), Kamasi Washington, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Surya Botofasina.

Williams is known for his blend of poetry and alternative hip hop. He also starred in the 1998 film Slam and in the Academy Award-winning Sinners.

He has also released his first-ever book of nonfiction, out yesterday via Haymarket Books, Songs My Mother Taught Me.
