South Asian Summer: Three breakout Indian acts are playing Dublin this month
Joel Jacob looks ahead to Seedhe Maut, Hanumankind and Peter Cat Recording Co.'s Dublin shows...
Summer, especially July, is always an exciting time for music in Dublin. As a multicultural city with a growing appetite for diverse sounds, Dublin continues to be a vibrant hub for cultural expression, with music at its heart.
Amidst a packed summer schedule, this month marks a rare and significant moment: three breakout Indian acts are performing in the city within days of each other. It’s more than a coincidence. It’s a signal that Ireland is embracing a broader wave of music discovery, in line with the global rise in South Asian music listenership.
From historic debuts to sold-out shows, this summer in Dublin feels like the beginning of something much bigger.

Button Factory - Thursday, July 10
Fresh from a packed pop-up show with DJ Limelight at Kings Cross in London – as part of their UK visit for Glastonbury and a string of other shows – the rap duo will cap off their visit to the west with their first ever headline show in Ireland.
Known for their hard-hitting lyrics, explosive live sets, and standout collaborations with top producers and rappers across the Desi hip-hop scene, the duo has been making serious waves across the UK and Europe.

Mo Joshi, CEO of Azadi Records (home to Seedhe Maut), is on deck duty for their UK and Ireland tour. Here’s what he had to say:
”Being the first Indian Hip Hop act to perform at Glastonbury was something special, following that up with sold out shows across Manchester, Birmingham, London and Dublin just goes to prove that the diaspora audience across Europe is eagerly awaiting Indian acts to come over.
"We're already planning our 2026 tour, with the addition of more cities across the UK as well as shows in France, Germany and the Netherlands.”
Seedhe Maut will perform a late show (11pm) at the Button Factory tonight – with remaining tickets available here.

The Academy - Monday, July 14
2024 was a breakthrough year for Hanumankind in the digital world, with his single 'Big Dawgs' topping charts globally and becoming a viral sensation on YouTube.
This momentum led to a high-profile collaboration with A$AP Rocky, followed by another chart-topping release, 'Run It Up'. Hanumankind (born Sooraj Cherukat) also made history as the first South Indian hip hop artist to perform at Coachella.
Building on this success, his 2025 OTW Europe tour has taken him to stages and festivals worldwide, culminating in a headline show at Dublin’s iconic The Academy — one of the biggest South Asian acts to do so in the city.
Behind the scenes, Amrith Raghunathan, Tour Manager and Sound Engineer spoke about the experience of taking the show on the road:
“The tour has been amazing so far. We have been touring with a lean crew on this one where we are doubling up roles. Ashish (Tarqeeb) is the DJ and manager. I am doing sound and tour managing. It’s been nothing but great crowds so far and I'm looking forward to to more ridiculous energy at the upcoming shows.”
The internet also loves to talk about Sooraj’s Kerala roots and Malayali heritage, which adds a special connection to his Dublin audience. Interestingly, Malayalam is the most widely spoken Indian language in Ireland, making his presence even more meaningful to the local community. As a fellow Malayali, it’s inspiring to witness a Kerala-born artist reach global stages and headline such a landmark venue.
Hanumankind's show at The Academy is now sold-out.

The Button Factory - Monday, July 21
Peter Cat Recording Co. are set to deliver the finale of their summer tour with a highly anticipated performance in Dublin.
The band’s unique sound is shaped by the collaborative talents of three songwriters and vocalists: Suryakant Sawhney (guitar and harmonium), Dhruv Bhola (bass), and Kartik Pillai (guitars, horns, woodwinds). They’re joined by Rohit Gupta on keys and horns, and Karan Singh on drums, creating a rich and versatile live experience.
Peter Cat Recording Co. gained a devoted international following during the pandemic, when listeners worldwide discovered their 2019 album Bismillah while staying home. This global interest propelled the band into one of their most extensive tours to date with more than 70 dates across the Americas, including headline shows and supporting slots for Khruangbin.
Having witnessed their live act firsthand at the Bangalore show during their India tour, this is arguably the tightest, most polished version of the band yet. Fans can expect a dynamic and theatrical set that spans their musical journey — blending tracks from earlier albums with selections from BETA, their latest release.
Remaining tickets for Peter Cat Recording Co. at the Button Factory are available here.
