Seeing as they’re already going to be on this side of the Atlantic for All Tomorrow’s Parties, Sonic Youth nip over on December 6 to play in Vicar St.
Tickets go on sale on Friday June 12 priced €42.50 and €48.50.
The even better news is that the band are streaming their new album, The Eternal, until next Monday on their www.sonicyouth.com website. Standouts include ‘Sacred Trickster’, ‘Anti-Orgasm’, ‘Malibu Gas Station’ and ‘Thunderclap (For Bobby Pyn)’.
Talking of All Tomorrow’s Parties, a documentary about the holiday camp hooley screens in the IFI on June 20 as part of their Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Film Festival. Tickets can be booked at www.irishfilm.ie/stf2009/festival_calendar.htm.
Also receiving an airing on June 19 is Afghan Star, the X Factor-style show which has delighted the public and outraged the Taliban in equal measure.
