See an aged Sherlock crack his last case in Mr. Holmes

The last time we saw Sherlock Holmes on the big screen he was a wise-cracking pseudo-action hero played by Robert Downey Jr. in a pair of films by Guy Ritchie, which were a good bit of craic. Though the detective's newest outing, Mr. Holmes, looks to be about as far a shot from that as possible, we must say we are still quite excited.

Based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind, the film features Ian McKellen as an aging Sherlock Holmes who lives in near solitude, tending to his bees. However, he becomes inspired to return to his last, unsolved case with the help of his housekeeper and her young son.

Also featuring Laura Linney, we expect an Irish release for the film in June when it hits theaters in the UK.
