Ronnie Corbett dies aged 85
The comedy legend, best known for his role alongside Ronnie Barker as The Two Ronnies, has passed away this morning
Following the sad news of Garry Shandling's death last week, the comedy world is once again in mourning after news of the passing of one of the UK's best known stars, Ronnie Corbett.
Best known for the BBC sketch show The Two Ronnies, where he appeared alongside Ronnie Barker, the diminutive comic passed away this morning at 85 years of age.
A consistent presence on British television for more than half a century, he first rose to prominence on The Frost Report, though it was alongside the late Barker - who passed away in 2005 - that he found both his perfect comic foil and his greatest success.
Appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours, for services to entertainment and charity, he may be known to younger viewers through side-splitting turns on Extras and Little Britain.
He passed away surrounded by family.
