Roisin Murphy features on Cuban compilation
The Havana hip hop scene is about to go global.
Roisin Murphy is one of the contributors to The Revolution Presents Revolution, a musical collaboration between rising Cuban stars, internationally renowned pop artists and A-List producers.
The Arklow songstress features on ‘Yellow Moon’, a suitably tropical disco stomper, which is produced by Rufus Wainwright and David Gray man Marius De Vries and features an all-Cuban house band. Elsewhere, there are turns from Havana hip hoppers Orishas, Lateef The Truth Speaker and Anónimo Consejo who have some corking tunes up on myspace.com/anonimoconsejocuba; the diva-tastic Ariday Vega Martin; and Sexto Sentido who are known as ‘Cuba’s Destiny’s Child’ and fully live up to the billing.
Also involved in the project, which sees the light of day here on June 26, is Norman Cook whose brass-infused ‘Shelter’ is a real highlight.
