Listen to 'Assimilation' below.
Six months after the release of her acclaimed, Choice Music Prize-nominated album Róisín Machine, Róisín Murphy has revealed that she has a new remix album on the way – Crooked Machine. Produced by Crooked Man, aka DJ Parrot, the new project is a reinterpretation of her 2020 album, and is set to be released digitally on April 30, and on vinyl on June 11, as part of Record Store Day.
Ahead of the release of Crooked Machine, Róisín has shared a new track from the project – 'Assimilation', which is a rework of 'Simulation'.
“Parrot doesn’t try to be ‘cool,’ I reckon that’s the last thing on his mind,” she commented in a statement about working with the producer on the new LP. “I think Crooked Machine is one of his greatest achievements so far... I think I prefer it to the original album, slightly less me and all the more ‘cool’ for it!”
