Roddie Cleere goes prime time with KCLR96FM
Roddie Cleere, one of the best known supporters of Irish music on Irish radio, has won a prime time slot with KCLR96FM in Kilkenny.
Cleere, who is also involved as Senior Trustee with the Róisín Dubh Trust, which organises a variety of Philip Lynott-related activities, was a long-time feature on the schedule at WLR in Waterford. However, following his departure earlier this year from WLR, when his Irish Music Show was axed, he joined KCLR96FM, taking over the TFI Friday pre-weekend slot.
One of independent radio's most senior music broadcasters, Cleere expressed his delight at the vote of confidence being given to him by the Kilkenny-based station
"It is my very great pleasure to announce that KCLR96FM in Kilkenny have offered me a full time and prime time position with them," he told Hot Press. "It is also my pleasure to say that I have accepted ! As such, I start with them this coming Monday October 17 at 4.30pm."
