Camila Cabello takes 3Arena dancing with Yours, C Tour
The show was her first performance in Dublin in seven years.
Camila Cabello sang to a packed house at her first-ever Irish headline show at Dublin's 3Arena for her Yours, C Tour on Wednesday.
Cabello hadn't performed in Dublin for seven years, when she opened for Taylor Swift at Croke Park. 2018 also saw the release of her first solo album Camila, following her departure from pop girl group Fifth Harmony. A 3Arena gig for her Romance tour was scheduled for June 2020, but was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making Wednesday's performance long overdue for the Camilizers, her passionate fans.
The Yours, C Tour followed the release of 2024 album, XOXO, C. The new album sees a departure from her previous works, both in lyrics and sound. Past works largely featured love songs like the smash-hit duet 'Señorita' (recorded with then partner Shawn Mendes) and sensual tracks like the reggaeton-influenced 'My Oh My'.
The 'Havana' singer, whose usual style fuses pop and R&B with her Latin roots on full display, incorporated hyperpop, hip-hop and dance influences in XOXO, C, which was on full display at her 3Arena gig. The show had the volume and vibrance of an artist who refuses to fade into obscurity, and her passion for her Cuban-Mexican heritage stands firm amid the threats faced by South and Central American immigrants and their children in the United States.
Cabello hasn't ever been quiet; she supported #Football4Refugees, an appeal launched by the UN Refugee Agency, hosted a benefit concert to protext LGBTQ+ students and their families in Florida from the "Don't Say Gay or Trans" bill, performed at the Concert for Ukraine benefit concert, launched The Healing Justice Project to fund mental health resources for frontline workers and much, much more. She may not have spoken up on any social or political issues at her Dublin gig, but her performance had an unspoken message throughout: she is loud, proud and still here.
The title of the tour played into her intro visuals, in which she recited an intimate letter to her audience, signed off with "Yours, C". A booming bassline heightened the anticipation as a cushioned cubic structure on stage lit up piece by piece.
The stage lit up gold to reveal Cabello stood on a chair perched on top of the cube, stunning in an all-white corset, hot pants with a long, draping belt and knee-high lacy boots.

She kicked off the set with epic renditions of 'Shameless' and 'Liar', both from her 2019 record Romance. A flashy display of pyrotechnics, smoke machines and a crew of enthusiastic backup dancers whipped the crowd into a frenzy as Cabello dropped down into the cube and emerged to join in high-energy choreography.
"We're so excited to be here tonight, it's been so long," Cabello told the crowd after 'Liar'.
Cabello stepped off the stage to embrace her fans, giving out hugs and exclaiming, "You guys are extra hot in person!" A cameraman followed her with screens on either side of the stage displaying Cabello's joyful expressions and the crowd's vibrant energy.
During 'Dade County Dreaming', backup dancers took the cube apart, revealing a structure of stairs and platforms covered with a translucent curtain. The set took a sensual turn with 'Bad Kind of Butterflies'. Backlit in pink, silhouettes danced behind the curtain as Cabello took the spotlight in front.
The curtain fell and Cabello whipped the crowd into a frenzy with her hit 'Never Be The Same', showing off Cabello's impressive vocal capability as she switches effortlessly from a cooled-down verse to a full-voiced, belting chorus. Just before the main chorus, she announced her grandmother was in attendance.
"My grandma's here tonight, this is her favourite song," Cabello said.
"Sing it for my grandma!"
The crowd shouted every line to 'Never Be The Same' and the following 'Chanel No. 5' which seamlessly transitioned to synth-pop ballad 'Quiet'. During the bridge of the latter, Cabello took a seat at the edge of the stage and coaxed the crowd into silence, singing a verse a cappella before jumping up for the final chorus to thunderous cheers.
"That's the craic, Dublin," Cabello said after 'Used to This', an intimate, soulful ode to the early stages of a relationship.
"You're all class!"

Cabello played another crowd favourite with 'My Oh My', a sexy, reggaeton-influenced R&B-pop track describing her desire for a bad boy character. She demanded the crowd "scream so loud my grandma loses her hearing tonight", to which fans enthusiastically shouted the lyrics.
For 'DREAM-GIRLS', a stirring anthem to womanhood, Cabello brought Nele, a tearful fan, on stage. Nele held a sign referencing Cabello's 2015 X Factor audition, to which Cabello exclaimed, "We basically grew up together!" Cabello encouraged the crowd to chant Nele's name during 'DREAM-GIRLS'. It reflected her long-term commitment to staying connected to and uplifting her fans, even from the very start of her career.
She followed up with the smash-hit 'Señorita', which Hot Press called "Ireland's song of the summer" in 2019. 'Señorita' pays homage to Cabello's Cuban-Mexican roots while staying true to American pop love songs.
During the heavily Latin-influenced 'Bam Bam', Cabello encouraged fans to shake off any stress they may be holding onto. She described having dealt with overthinking before the show, and said 'Bam Bam' was the time to dance it away. Cabello sang "así es la vida, sí" and the translation "yeah, that's just life" while dancing along with her backup dancers.

"I promise I won't take seven years to come back to Dublin," Cabello said after the post-breakup belter 'June Gloom'.
One final interlude saw video of Cabello in a floral dress with a cigar in hand to Latin instrumentals displayed on screens, a nod to the Cuban heritage that she proudly works into her songs.
The last series of tracks brought the party energy back up with a remix of dance track 'Move' by DJs Adam Port and Stryv, followed by 'Havana' to deafening cheers. 'Havana', a sultry Latin ode to Cabello's hometown, is a deserved chart-topper and unequivocal earworm.
Cabello wrapped up on a hyperpop high note with 'I LUV IT'. She thanked her band, crew and dancers before blowing a goodbye kiss as the final stop on her EU/UK tour came to an end.
