R.E.M. reveal details of new album
R.E.M. have confirmed details of their new album, which was publicly rehearsed in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre last year and recorded in Westmeath’s Grouse Lodge Studios.
Out here on March 28, Accelerate includes ‘Mr. Richards’, ‘I’m Gonna DJ’, ‘Until The Day Is Done’, ‘Staring Down The Barrel Of Middle Distance’ and ‘Living Well Is The Best Revenge’ among its Jacknife Lee-produced tracks.
Talking this month to Uncut magazine, Michael Stipe reveals: “When we started working with Jacknife, the first thing I asked was, ‘What do you want to hear from R.E.M. and what do you want this record to be?’ and he said, ‘I want it to be thrilling.’ I feel like there’s a confidence in the material, and a communication between the three of us that hasn’t been there for some time.”
