The Red Bull Music Academy will once again showcase new talent at the Sonar festival in Barcelona
This is the seventh year the Red Bull Music Academy has collaborated with Sonar and the Academy has left a permanent mark on the festival schedule with its unique mixture of live music showcases, global club sounds, and carnival roadblock chaos.
The Academy, the barometer for emerging worldwide talent, have some new additions to the SonarDome line up, including Academy grads like Romanian post-dubstep wizard Cosmin TRG, The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble from Berlin and incandescent New Zealand soul outfit Electric Wire Hustle.
David Rodigan will bring a giant dose of his roots 'n' culture edutainment. Japanese artists to be showcased on the Academy’s stage will be Daisuke Tanabe, the producer known for his delicately alien beat-scapes, and tech maestro Hiroaki Oba, whose LP on Ki Records drops this summer.
They'll join extended Academy family such as chart-breaking UK funky princess Katy B, d'n'b legend and ‘Crack House’ don DJ Zinc, Ninja Tune’s ruling soundboy Poirier, enigmatic disco duo Tiger & Woods, and the angular, propulsive grooves of Pilooski and Pentile's Discodeine project.
Sonar presents forward-thinking music and multi-disciplinary artists from around the world at its sprawling day and night editions, making the sun-soaked festival a perfect match for the Academy ethos.
The festival runs from 16-18 of June in Barcelona. For more information see http://sonar.es
