Queen to be honoured at MTV EMAs in Belfast
It's official: The bombastic Brits are Global Icons...
They've topped charts, sold out stadiums and even been immortalised in Lego form, and now it's time for MTV to pay their respects to one of the biggest bands of all time; Queen.
The MTV European Music Awards come to the Odyssey Arena on November 6 with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, LMFAO and Jessie J all expected to perform live. Queen are also expected to take the stage after they are presented with the Global Icon award for recognition of their incredible career.
"We are honoured to be designated a Global Icon. We will do our best to be worthy!" said guitarist Brian May.
“Over the past four decades, Queen has made an indelible impact on the pop music landscape. They are passionately revered by generations of fans and musicians across the globe,” said Bruce Gillmer, Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming / Events for Viacom International Media Networks. “We are absolutely thrilled that they will be joining us at this year’s MTV EMA, and we look forward to a very special performance.”
