Phil Lynott tribute gig and exhibition
For Thin Lizzy fans, all roads will lead to Arklow on Sunday May 3 when Friends of Philo will hold their Shades of a Blue Orphanage tribute gig, headlined by Renegade at the Arklow Bay Hotel.
Phil’s mother Philomena will be guest of honour for the weekend.
In conjunction with that event Friends of Philo will hold what they believe will be Ireland’s first Philip Lynott Art and Photographic Exhibition at the Riverside Gallery, Bridgewater Shopping Centre, Arklow from April 27 - May 8, with free admission.
The exhibition will feature up to twelve artists from Ireland and the UK and 50% of their sales at the exhibition will go to charity. Some of the artists involved include Terry Willers (formerly of Hall’s Pictorial Weekly on RTÉ), Tom Mathews (Irish Times and Hot Press), Mark Baker, Niall O'Loughlin, Greg Hart, Rod Coyne and Smiley Bolger.
There will also be photographs on show by Ray Wright, Roisin Dubh Trust official photographer.
The exhibition will also include relevant newspaper clippings, posters, fans photos and rare TV interviews. Opening times are 1pm - 7pm daily, and 11am - 5pm on the bank holiday weekend.
The charities who will benefit from the events are the Sri Lankan Orphanage Appeal, Arklow Drugs Awareness and The Roisin Dubh Trust.
