Patti Smith's The Coral Sea set for release

A double disc recording of Patti Smith's The Coral Sea, a verbal tribute to her late friend photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, is set for release on July 11 on Smith's and Kevin Shields PASK imprint.

Shields provides guitar backing on the live performance. It is unknown if Smith and Shields will stage The Coral Sea, also the title of a 1996 Smith book of prose and poetry, at a future date.

As reported on hotpress.com earlier in the week, Shields and his band mates of My Bloody Valentine, will play at All Tomorrow's Parties in New York in September, their first stateside show in 16 years.
