One Direction caught in Peruvian drugs scandal

One Direction have found themselves in the centre of a career-defining aspersion as two members of the superstar boy band were captured on film with cannabis.

Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are filmed in the back of a vehicle as they appear to be leaving Peru. The two One Directioners film the casual preparation and consumption of marijuana in what they refer to as a "joint" while speaking in American slang such as "po po", "smokescreen baybeh"and "I know you like dat shit". Tomlinson also refers to someone in the car as "Nig", although it's unsure if a racial slur was intended.

As the video continues Tomlinson begins to actively mock the "po po", taunting Peruvian police with chants of "one nil" and "two nil" as officers drive past without noticing the illegal activity within the vehicle. The two also discuss an appreciation of the cultures of foreign countries, particularly Jamaica which may hint at an appreciation of Yellowman or more likely another cannabis reference.

Towards the end of the clip Tomlinson gets contemplative and also speaks with a sense of awareness that the public would get a hold of the clip.

"I'm here in Peru wondering, will this come back to me? Who knows.... maybe, maybe not."

The video ends with Malik expressing admiration towards a book made by Kid Rock.
