Olivia Rodrigo announces music festival featuring all-women lineup
The Festival Presale begins Wednesday, June 24, at 10 am PT.
Olivia Rodrigo has announced a new charity festival with an all-female lineup.
The brand-new Daisy Chain Fields music festival taking place on August 29 in Irvine, California.
The all-female lineup includes big artists like Chapelle Roan, Katseye, Mitski, Doechii, and Rachel Chinchouri. Also playing is Not For Radio (María Zardoya from The Marías 's solo project), Die Spitz, Garbage, Quiet Light, Santigold and riot girl legends Bikini Kill and The Breeders.
Special guests also include Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Stevie Knicks, and Sarah Mclaughlan.
The festival concept takes after McLoughlin's Lillith festival, which took place during the summers of 1997 to 1999. The festival also consisted of an all-female lineup, and in its initial three years, Lilith Fair raised over $10 million for charity.
A new Disney+ documentary, Lilith Fair, Building a Mystery: The Untold Story, is currently in the midst.
Some of the organisations Daisy Chain Fields is partnering with include: Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.
“Daisy Chain Fields is a music festival founded on the belief that joy, community, and creativity can inspire meaningful change,” reads the Daisy Chain Fields Instagram statement. “It affirms that music and collective experience can serve as enduring drivers of progress and social change. It’s a place where inspiration and curiosity lead to knowledge, strength, and action. The festival celebrates the voices, artistry, and contributions of women in music, fostering an inclusive environment in which all are welcome."
Rodrigo’s third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, was released earlier this month and immediately debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, giving her a third consecutive chart-topping album. She has also scored a double at the Official Irish Charts, reaching no.1 on both the albums and singles charts.
“Truly, never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all,” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram. “I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years, and I am so ecstatic it's finally coming true. I firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change, and I’m hopeful this festival will be just that.
