Miley Cyrus releases new Hannah Montana song, 'Younger You,' following 20th anniversary special

Miley Cyrus has released a brand new Hannah Montana track titled 'Younger You.' The song was first previewed during the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which aired on Disney+ on March 24, and is now available to stream.

The special, filmed with a live audience, featured an in-depth interview with Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy, live performances of Hannah Montana hits like 'Best of Both Worlds' and 'This Is the Life,' and cameos from Chappell Roan, Selena Gomez, and Cyrus’ parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus. The music video for 'Younger You' intersperses clips from the special with scenes from The Hannah Montana Movie.

Cyrus announced the song on Instagram, explaining the heartfelt meaning: “This anniversary special is a gift from me to younger you, my way of saying thank you for your loyalty and for growing with me every step of the way. This song says it all…”

Hannah Montana premiered on the Disney Channel in 2006, starring Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a brunette Los Angeles teen living a secret double life as the blonde pop star Hannah Montana. The series concluded in 2011 after four seasons and yielded five soundtrack albums, four of which topped the Billboard 200. Cyrus’ most recent solo album, Something Beautiful, was released in 2025.

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, also featured memorable moments, including a surprise appearance by Chappell Roan.

Roan thanked Cyrus for paving the way for artists like herself. “You took a lot of the heat for that in 2012, 2013," she said. "I don’t have to deal with that as much because the world, like, took it out on you.”

During a separate interview on ABC’s Good Morning America on Wednesday, Cyrus was asked what advice she would give her 12-year-old self who auditioned for the role.

“I’m so at peace with where my life is at,” said Cyrus. “I’m so in love with the way my life has landed that I wouldn’t want to give her any advice that would change the outcome.”

“Hannah, she gave me my start, but my fans gave me this life," Cyrus said, closing the special.
