Nonsense in the Dark
Electro-indie roughage to give you that ‘80s Readybreak glow.
‘Nonsense In The Dark’ is a very organic-sounding, moodily electro-pop party record with a gritty indie-rock sensibility from English trio Filthy Dukes. Tracing a line from ‘70s/’80s artists like PiL (‘What Happens Next’) to Gary Numan (‘Messages’) to the Clangers, this is a really well crafted four-to-the-floor collection of going out music. All the guest vocalists chosen by the dirtily aristocratic popsters are male, which is nice. If you were to look at most producer-cum-pop star’s credits lists, you’d think they did it entirely to meet girls, so it’s actually quite cool to hear a batch of quality male (Orlando Weeks, Tommy Sparks, Tim Lawton, Plastic Little amongst others) vocalists in the muse role for a change.
