New Irish Songs To Hear This Week
Listen to some of our favourite Irish songs from the week below:
Huartan, ‘Cailleach’
Belfast-based tradtronica group Huartan have released their self-titled debut album.
Huartan as a whole is a tension-filled, energetic powerhouse of a record. It's full of conviction and innovation, careening between industrial textures and organic vocal segments. '
Cailleach' is a fresh way to kick it off. The percussive-driven sound and lush synth elements give the track a hip-hop-meets-trad feeling, with digital samples infusing dance tones. The vocals are fresh and clean, blending well with the electronic mixing and traditional instrumental sounds. The various voices of the group merge to create something both modern and ancient. Huartan are, once again, in a league of their own with this latest release — and they’re showing it off with ‘Cailleach’.
HuartanYe Vagabonds, ‘On Sitric Road’
Irish folk band Ye Vagabonds have released new single ‘On Sitric Road’, ahead of their upcoming album All Tied Together.
The song marks the group's first release on streaming services since their 2023 rendition of 'The Parting Glass' with boygenius. The track, recently featured in House of Guinness, payed homage to Sinéad O'Connor, donating its proceeds to the Aisling Project at the behest of the Sinéad O’Connor Estate. It’s an emotional acoustic anthem, full of warm autumnal textures and heartfelt vocal harmonies for the delivery of bittersweet lyrics. It strikes a perfect balance between trad-influenced textures and indie-folk ballad feelings, stripped down to guitar, vocals and distant shimmering samples.

Irish dream-pop artist Maria Somerville has released new track ‘Up (Fatshaudi Remix)’.
It comes ahead of Somerville’s Luster (Remixes) EP, due January 21, and it’s quite the way to build excitement. The fresh takes on tracks from her April album Luster are an opportunity for Sommerville to collaborate with artists who complement her sound well; Brisbane-based underground dream-pop artist Fatshaudi is the best example of this. Together, they’ve created a glossy, sparkling, atmospheric version of the track. The dreamy synth sounds and softly crashing percussion lead into Somerville’s emotive voice, richly layered and fuzzed out. The slowly driving drum kits lend an almost 80s retro feel akin to Berlin’s ‘Take My Breath Away’. However, the track is firmly modern. The sound is fresh, new, bright; it’s Maria Somerville.

Emerging Kildare singer-songwriter Louise M has released her new single ‘Escape’.
The sound of ‘Escape’ merges tropical house and electronic with fresh pop tones, with her clean vocalisations melding into synth samples and digital drum kit rhythms. The influences of Billie Eilish and Aurora are clear in Louise’s soaring, heartfelt delivery. The lyrics explore themes of self-expression and the feeling of being trapped by circumstance. With an earworm chorus and danceable refrains, this is one of Louise’s best.
"Growing up, songwriting and improv were the best ways I could express myself and all the many emotions you go through as a teenager and young adult," said Louise M of the inspiration for 'Escape'.
Louise MFlorence Road, ‘Storm Warnings’
Following a few singles off the back of their debut mixtape Fall Back in June, Florence Road have released new single ‘Storm Warnings’.
‘Storm Warnings’ arrives quite appropriately for the arrival of heavy November rain. A whirlwind of persistent bass lines by Ailbhe Barry and swirling guitar lines by Emma Brandon leads into Lily Aron’s emotive vocals. Her delivery is full of grit and heart; apt for the vibrantly descriptive lyrics. Hannah Kelly’s no-holds-barred drumming creates a sense of beautiful chaos.
The track is rooted in the hazy grunge of great rock bands past while still full of ambition and heart. It’s got the power of Phoebe Bridgers’ ‘I Know The End’ with the Irish rock flavours of Cliffords and Bricknasty. Overall, ‘Storm Warnings’ is a song to scream along to at the top of your lungs— a wild thunderstorm encapsulated in 3 minutes and 45 seconds.

Rising Irish singer-songwriter Boachitta has released new single ‘Lifeguard’.
After her mesmerising debut single ‘Sparkling Dynamite’, Boachitta continues to carve her name into the indie scene. Opening with the sound of deep breaths, it's clear from the start that 'Lifeguard' is something special. The track blends a retro-feel indie pop sheen with Boachitta’s raw, soulful vocals. The contributions of producer Gavin Goldberg, known for his work with Simple Minds help to create that 80s feel, with playful synths, simmering guitar lines and brightly layered vocals over jagged backbeats. Whether in 1985 or 2025, this is pop-rock hit material.
“The song is about the darkness of depression and the fight to reclaim your inner light,” said Boachitta of ‘Lifeguard’.
“It’s about reconnecting with the broken parts of yourself, taking that one brave step forward, and saving the inner child inside you. You are the lifeguard—you are rescuing yourself.”
BoachittaBreezy iDeyGoke & Art of Algebra Announce, ‘BST’
Afro-Irish artist Breezy iDeyGoke and producer Art of Algebra return with ‘BST’, a new single from their upcoming EP A Quantum Trip, out December 5th. The track arrives alongside a surrealist video directed by Mark Smyth.
‘BST’ marks an evolution in the pair’s ongoing collaboration, merging Breezy’s sharp lyricism with Art of Algebra’s immersive trip-hop production. The track shifts from tense, meditative verses into explosive, high-energy choruses, as Breezy reflects on adversity, faith, and resilience.
Speaking on the song, Breezy says: “BST is all about what it takes to truly achieve greatness… grit, determination, hard work and perseverance.” Art of Algebra adds: “It’s the definitive track in terms of our sound — dark, ambient and heavy. We wanted to make something that truly stands out.”

Cork-based post-punk trio Ash Red share their debut album The Foreign Game. A sharp critique of conformity and identity, the title track reinterprets the GAA’s historical ban on “foreign games” as a metaphor for coercive belonging, where individuality is sacrificed for acceptance.
Driven by pulsing basslines, taut guitar work and stark, almost militant rhythms, the track encapsulates Ash Red’s ability to fuse raw energy with pointed social commentary.
The album as a whole finds Ash Red expanding their sound following the success of their Stupid EP, channelling jagged post-punk tension through moments of cinematic depth and emotional contrast. With ‘The Foreign Game’, the band sharpen their message, a rallying cry against duplication, urging listeners to resist the pressure to conform.
Ash RedJack Dora, ‘Can’t Get To The Phone’
Irish-born artist Jack Dora releases his new single ‘Can’t Get To The Phone’, a raw but deliberate electro-punk song wired with a dark sense of humour. Recorded in a church attic, the track stands as a surreal protest anthem, visceral, unhinged, and burning with intent.
“We’re watching morality collapse in real time and allowing ourselves to be numbed to it,” said Dora. “But we’re not powerless to the algorithm. Every voice, every thought, every act of resistance counts. This song is a call to action: be human, and do something.”
The single’s striking artwork comes from Palestinian artist Maisara Aboud, taken from his “I’m Still Alive” series, a body of work documenting daily life in Gaza through the ongoing genocide, adding a powerful visual and political layer to Dora’s release.

Irish pop artist Daniel Cohen returns with his fourth single of 2025, ‘She’s So Fine!’, a glittering, feel-good disco-funk anthem that marks a bold new direction for the rising artist. Having hinted at this sound across earlier releases, Cohen now steps fully into the groove, blending infectious basslines, retro synths, and funk rhythms.
“This single is a big moment for me,” says Cohen. “I think I’d always been going this way, but now it’s very clear that this is where the magic is!”
Since launching his solo career in 2022, Cohen has been blazing his own trail, earning national and international recognition for his debut album, All Engines Running! (2023). ‘She’s So Fine!’ captures his evolution, confident, groovy, and unapologetically fun, signalling the start of a dazzling new disco era for the artist.
Daniel CohenBasciville & Ailbhe Reddy, ‘Your Own Head’
Wexford-born brother duo Basciville return with ‘Your Own Head’, a haunting and cinematic folk-rock duet featuring Ailbhe Reddy. Built on swirling guitars and quiet intensity, the track is the first glimpse of the band’s upcoming second album, due in 2026, a record the duo describe as emotionally anchored by this song, its “blueprint”.
Lyrically, ‘Your Own Head’ grapples with how we compromise ourselves in the name of love, faith, and social expectation, a meditation on the tension between moral duty, self-preservation, and the pull to stay present.
“We’ve always talked about collaborating more,” Reddy shares. “The first time I ever set foot in a real studio was with them, so recording this together felt full circle. The lyrics are beautiful and so different from what I’d write myself—I fell in love with the track instantly.”

Rising pop visionary AL1CE in Wønder1and returns with her evocative new single, ‘Heroin sorta Love’ Following the success of her debut single ‘Love Me Down’, AL1CE continues to expand the eclectic sonic world, this time diving into the intoxicating chaos of love and heartbreak through lush city pop and dream pop soundscapes.
‘Heroin Sorta Love’ is a raw exploration of emotional addiction, the kind of toxic love that feels impossible to let go. Mixing nostalgic retro-pop tones with dreamy modern production, the track captures the duality of beauty and pain that defines AL1CE’s artistic voice.
“This is a song intended for broken hearts, written by a broken heart, in a bustling city. And that person is me,” AL1CE shares. "I hope it resonates with anyone going through a tough time right now.”
Having only begun writing music in June 2025, AL1CE has quickly established herself as one of Dublin’s most promising young voices.

Curfew, ‘Love Letter’
Curfew have unveiled their final single, ‘Love Letter’, ahead of their debut album, Black Doll’s Eyes.
Emerging from North Dublin, Curfew continue to build their reputation as one of Ireland’s most captivating new alternative-hard rock acts. Following a run of standout performances across venues such as Whelan’s, The Grand Social, Sin É, Anseo, Bello Bar, The Sound House and The Workman’s Club, the trio have drawn attention for their raw and cinematic rock sound.
Their new single ‘Love Letter’ reveals a softer, dreamier side to the band. A tender, nostalgic ballad that blends the ambient pull of Beach House with the emotional depth of London Grammar. With delicate acoustic layers and sweet, aching vocals, it’s a heartfelt reflection on love, loss and memory.
Curfew’s debut LP Black Doll’s Eyes arrives November 25, followed by their
headline album launch show at The Grand Social, Dublin, on December 23.

Alpine Skies, ‘Blockks’
With calm and continuous instrumentals, ‘Blockks’ by Alpine Skies is a track that flows like rainfall. Lyrics follow a stream of consciousness, with an increase of momentum that feels like a mobilised movement growing ever-powerful.
‘Blockks’ emphasises the strength of community, fighting against governmental structures and convention to achieve a society that echoes your own morals and values.
“While working on another track the song's main guitar hook just presented itself, with those infectious, lingering notes evoking growth and progress through each phrasing,” says the band. “Simply put, it is a reflection of life, both musically and lyrically, for the band”
Alpine Skies.Cashell, ‘Said and Done’
Cashell, lead singer of Dublin indie-rock band Brass Phantoms, has made his solo debut with new track ‘Said and Done’. A perfect track for storming away, ‘Said and Done’ makes every bit of resentment and every tinge of distaste completely clear. Whoever it may be directed at is sure to feel the salt in the wound, but it’s hard to be bothered when the track is served to you on a platter bursting with rowdy instrumentals, complimented by a gritty chorus. ‘Said and Done’ sends an honest message to take accountability.
Cashell.VERA, ‘Ketchup’
Nothing compliments a relationship gone awry like a fiery clap-back fueled by jazzy vocals and instrumentals. ‘Ketchup’ from Belfast indie-rock band VERA, exudes swagger with confident bass lines and direct lyrics.
Imagery of ketchup stains, and standing in what feels like complete ruin offer a sense of relatability and humour to the track. Sure, maybe life’s a mess, but how bad can it be if it brings about works of sonic art like ‘Ketchup’. Lyrically, they offer wit that bites.
VERA deliver a soulful, cathartic vocal performance destined for a live audience.
VERA.T R Y S T E, ‘Abandon’
‘Abandon’, straight off of T R Y S T E’s brand new EP To Rise You Seek The End highlights the band’s instrumental talents, with layered electronic echoes over steady gentle piano melodies. Vocals lead you in with a soft - almost hesitant introduction, before getting into the nitty gritty, emotive edge of a scream. Their created world seems to collapse around you, conveying confessional concepts on the reality of a fully fleshed out relationship, one with baggage and sometimes trauma.
‘Abandon’ is experimental and fearful, laying everything T R Y S T E has to offer on the line. The track provides a solace in that although dark thoughts may linger, pain and living go hand-and-hand.
T R Y S T E.Shampain, ‘Tearduct / Bóthar Buí’ feat. Elaine Malone
Shampain’s new EP Millenium Madness generously brings the Galway sound to a wider audience. The concluding track ‘Tearduct / Bóthar Buí’ seems to transport you to a late night spent on the shores of Galway bay, with fuzzy, electronic tones that feel like wires through your brain, like the reflection of light of the water bouncing back and igniting your psyche.
A haunting energy that brings forth concepts of what it is to feel joy, a humming just below the surface that beckons you in. Shampain possesses the sonic power to eliminate fear, allowing you to accept the unknown and fall into your own interpretations of pagan revelry.
Much of the EP features raw recordings of the Galway atmosphere, from pub smoking areas, the omnipresent pouring rain and the ever-flowing River Corrib.

3-piece psychedelic band Eppie have released their new single ‘Listening to Charm’, inspired by frontwoman Palomi’s younger sister.
A groovy song with flowing guitar notes and snappy cymbal beats, it captures moments of coming home to tell her about her life, blending the lines between nostalgia and hope. The tune is the second off their collection of music Songs of Sunshine, set to be released over the coming months.
In May, the trio released their debut EP First Name Basis. The singer’s soft, Adrianne Lenker-style vocals glide over the track with narrative style vocals.

Ciarán Moran, ‘Love In The Gutter’
Ciarán Moran has released his new EP Love In The Gutter, featuring his title track of the same name.
‘Love In the Gutter’ is a folk-pop love song with powerful vocals and snappy guitar notes over a bumping bass beat, creating a lively yet deeply emotional feel.
The artist, known for his honest, emotional style, is a self-described “working class artist of the people”. Moran has previously supported artists including Gavin James, Macy Gray, The Wolfe Tones and Jamie Webster.

Finnian, ‘Remember My Name’
Dundalk singer-songwriter Finnian has released his new single ‘Remember My Name’.
‘Remember My Name’ is a booming, synth driven track with deep, reflective vocals. The song tells the story of someone living with a partner with dementia, dealing with the slow fading of memory while longing for the simple things they once shared. Despite the somber subject, the tune has an uplifting, hopeful feel.

Cristina Movileanu, ‘Child of November’
Singer Cristina Movileanu has released her new single ‘Child of November’.
Written by Japanese artist and songwriter Tetsu Atsumi, the song is a nostalgic and hopeful tune that aims to capture the spirt of November.
“‘Child of November’ feels like a quiet conversation with the soul,” said the singer. “Singing it gave me a sense of calm and warmth, and I hope listeners feel that same gentle embrace.’’
‘Child of November’ features Jessica Pratt-style vocals, with their airy folk sound. The slow-paced, ethereal tune features soft, fluid guitar strums and poetic lyrics.

Stone Blind State, ‘There She Goes’
Stone Blind State have released their new single ‘There She Goes’.
The song, influenced by Americana blues, tells the story of falling in love across the bar with someone who appears and just as quickly is gone.
‘‘The song is about someone taking your breath away,” said the band.
“A door opening to the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen. While the pre-chorus is about unintended consequences.
“Sometimes in life we go down a road we never thought we were on, until we find ourselves dealing with the consequences.’
‘There She Goes’ is a longing rock tune with pounding sliding guitar notes and gritty, story-like vocals.

Sundown, ‘Sleazy Pinstripe’
Sundown have released their first single following their hiatus ‘Sleazy Pinstripe’.
The song was originally written in 2019 and sat untouched for years.
What began as a tongue-in-cheek reaction to an early encounter in the music industry has shifted into a confident tune about staying true to yourself.
‘Sleazy Pinstripes’ takes on the style of The Academic, with its jumpy indie rock style.
The song’s pounding drumbeats and driving bass blend seamlessly with strong, fast-paced vocals; the lyrically dense tune’s uplifting tone shining through.
