Erykah Badu and The Alchemist announce new album

Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have announced a new collaborative album, out August 28.

Ahead of the album, the Neo-soul singer and hip-hop producer released their new single 'Witch Doctor', which joins the previously released 'Next To You' and 'Echos 19 (mix 122)'.

The currently unnamed record marks Badu's first project in 11 years and her first studio album in 16 years. The Alchemist has remained an active producer, releasing Alfredo 2 with Freddie Gibbs in 2025, as a follow up to the Grammy nominated 2020 album Alfredo.

The pair began working together more than three years ago, developing the record through studio sessions and live performances with Badu's collective The Cannabinoids. Though the Alchemist revealed the title of the LP to be Abi & Alan in 2025, this has since been redacted.

The co-produced album was recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles.

Following the release of the album, the duo will commence on a tour across North America, UK and Europe, with hip-hop group De La Soul and American rapper Smino.

Badu recently visited the UK to perform at Lauryn Hill's Diaspora Calling! festival event in Milton Keynes.
