Muireann Bradley shares new single 'These Days' & announces Dublin gig
The singer will play Dublin's Sugar Club on November 9.
Donegal folk guitarist and singer Muireann Bradley has released her version of the song ‘These Days’.
The song was originally penned by a teenage Jackson Browne, and was first brought to life in 1967 by Nico, as part of her Chelsea Girls album.
Muireann’s version nods to the track’s folky roots, while putting her own stamp on the classic.
“I've always loved ‘These Days’, I first heard it in the Wes Anderson movie The Royal Tenenbaums and really fell for it," says Bradley about the record.
"I started playing it at home and then recently started to play it in my live shows. The audiences really liked it, so it was a natural step to record it. I love the lyrics, and the finger-picked guitar part that the 16-year-old Jackson Browne played on the original Nico recording. I had to change the melody to make it work for my voice which is always a bit of a worry with such a beloved and iconic song, but I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as I love playing it.”
The singer recently covered Bob Dylan’s classic ‘Don't Think Twice It’s Alright’, for Mahogany Sessions. Muireann also played at last summer’s Green Man Festival on the main stage. This year has seen her play a number of different festivals.
Bradley first appeared on BBC TV's Jools Holland's Annual Hootenanny and was given a standing ovation for her performance of the 1961 Rev Gary Davis song 'Candyman'.
Her debut album I Kept These Old Blues, earned her Hot Press' album of the month for February this year.
Muireann has also announced an Ireland and UK headline tour which will see the singer play Dublin's Sugar Club on November 9.
Release dates for these tickets have not yet been announced, however, you can sign up to be notified here.
Bradley will play Dublin's Clonakilty International Guitar Fest on September, 18, with tickets already sold out.
