MS MR pack the Hot Press Chatroom
The Mullingar Town Band and Al Porter were no match for them!
There was another full Hot Press Chatroom house/tent to meet MS MR, the New York duo who are on the Rankin's Wood Stage at 5pm and definitely worth catching if you're of a brooding electropop disposition. Tales were told of almost contracting hypothermia in the Letterman studio - Dave really didn't like to sweat - and Jay Z and Chris Martin arriving for dinner in the restaurant where Max Hershenow used to work. Apparently they were very nice, but Max was really disappointed that they didn't bring Beyoncé with 'em. As you would be.
The MindField being nothing if not eclectic, our man Craig Fitzpatrick was battling with the Mullingar Town Band outside - nice flag twirling, ladies & gents - and Al Porter in the next-door tent who was murderin..., er, offering his unique take on 'Flash Master Of The University'.
We also got to nip to the Electric Arena for Pond, the Australian psychedelic pop merchants who sound like a cross between Joy Division and a space rocking Hawkwind.
Mainman Nick Allbrook managed a very decent 'Conas tá tú?', making us love 'em all the more!
On the Main Stage, the now traditional half-two reggae slot was occupied by Legend, the Bob Marley-worshipping outfit formed by Steel Pulse man Basil Gabbidon. There's no replacing Bob, of course, but their version of 'No Woman No Cry' was pretty damn sublime.
