Mourning Beloveth Premiere Video To Mark 1916 Centenary
The Irish doom-metal group pay their respects to the Easter rising
Mourning Beloveth have released a new video to commemorate the Easter 1916 rising.
The veteran Irish metal band have paid tribute to their home nation by releasing the single 'A Terrible Beauty Is Born'. The track is Mourning Beloveth's interpretation of the WB Yeats poem 'Easter 1916'.
"The poem, is about the time, Easter 1916, and a failed rebellion in Dublin and it shows Yeats (and perhaps the Irish peoples) changing attitudes to the men who fought and died in the rebellion for a noble idea, to free Ireland from its colonial masters and 800 years of oppression," explains Darren More.
He expanded on what it means to the band. "It is one of my favourite pieces of literature from our school days and it was going a daunting task to put music to such an iconic poem as this. The final paragraph deals in the idealism and idealistic values of the leaders involved in the Rising, and it tied in with what we were trying to say through our music saying about the world around us today."
Mourning Beloveth's album Rust & Bone is out now via Ván Records and available to order from the Ván Webstore.
