CMAT stars in new BBC Radio 6 Music Artist in Residence – AAA episode
In the episode, CMAT discusses the writing and production process behind her upcoming album EURO-COUNTRY.
The new edition of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Artist in Residence – AAA starring CMAT is now available to watch online.
The over one-hour episode was recorded at Maida Vale Studios, London, where CMAT and producer Oli Deakin explore the making of her upcoming album EURO-COUNTRY, as well as some of her older tracks.

The first song examined is 'Running/Planning', with CMAT playing an original voice note she recorded in September 2022 as an early sketch of the track.
“My number one instrument, as you know, is my phone,” CMAT says.
“And what I mean by that is that I use the voice notes app on the iPhone more than I’ve ever used any instrument in my life… I’ve used this more than the guitar, more than the omnichord… I guess what I’m saying is that I use my voice most of the time when I am writing a song.”
In addition to the episode, CMAT will present an Artist in Residence radio series for 6 Music this week, from Monday August 11, to Thursday August 14 (11 pm–12 am).
“I listen to 6 Music every day in a way that is quite embarrassing for someone who gets played on it quite often,” she says. “I also love to talk about music. So this is quite the dream come true!”
Previous Artist in Residence – AAA episodes have featured Bon Iver, Mitski and Loyle Carner.
CMAT's EURO-COUNTRY is out August 29; in the meantime, you can check out her Radio 6 Music Artist in Residence episode below.
