Miley Cyrus announces name change and new album
Alongside the announcement comes a 30-second trailer which shows a clip of the artist playing a guitar inaudibly over a synth-driven dance track.
Miley Cyrus has changed her name to just Miley and announced a new album, Bass Persuades, out September 18.
“Music takes hold of us,” she wrote on social media. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.”
Alongside the announcement comes a 30-second trailer which shows a clip of the artist playing a guitar inaudibly over synth-driven dance music.
The 10-track record, which marks her 10th studio album, will include features from Model/Actriz and Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt.
She’s also announced two shows at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and 18 to follow the release of Bass Persuades.
Miley released her last studio album, Something Beautiful, last May, before dropping a deluxe version of the album, featuring collaborations with David Byrne and Lindsey Buckingham, last September.
Meanwhile, she also made an original song for James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, staged a Hannah Montana 20thanniversary special and released a Hannah Montana track titled ‘Younger You’.
The special, filmed with a live audience, featured an in-depth interview with Alex Cooper of the Call Her Daddy podcast, live performances of Hannah Montana hits like ‘Best of Both World’ and ‘This Is the Life’ and cameos from Chappell Roan, Selena Gomez and Cyrus’ parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.
The music video for ‘Younger You’ intersperses clips from the special with scenes from The Hannah Montana Movie.
