Kelly’s first release with the label will be the single ‘I Will Be There’, out on October 2.
Dublin singer-songwriter Michele Ann Kelly has signed to Dara Records, whose catalogue includes such top Irish artists as Jack L, Mary Black, Tommy Fleming, Dolores Keane and Frances Black. ‘I Will Be There’, will be taken from her forthcoming album Songs That Saved My Life.
Kelly’s style has been described as a provocative blend of blues, soul, rock and pop, with a hint of folk and a dash of country, earning her comparisons with Shawn Colvin, kd Lang, Alison Krauss and Sarah McLachlan. She first came to national attention when she was awarded demo of the year status by Jackie Hayden in his Hot Press column First Cuts.
In recent times, Michele has collaborated with established songwriters of the quality of Steve Wickham (The Waterboys), Liam Reilly, Keith Donald (Moving Hearts) and Thom Moore. She has supported Mary Black, Paul Brady, Sharon Shannon, Brian Kennedy, Luka Bloom and Altan, and performed with Don Baker, Mick Hanly, Leslie Dowdall, Mike Hanrahan and Marian Bradfield.
