Matty Matheson of The Bear announces debut album with Pig Pen, along with new single

Matty Matheson of The Bear has announced a new album with his hardcore band Pig Pen, out June 27, along with a new single ‘Mental Mentality' available to stream now.

Signed with Flatspot Records, the track is paired with an accompanying music video. The actor launched the band back in March, and performed their first gig at Sneaky Dees in Toronto on April 25. The group consists of Matheson on vocals, Wade MacNeil and Daniel Romano on guitar, Ian "SKI" Romano on drums and Tommy Major on bass.

According to Matheson, the album titled Mental Madness addresses “mental health shit.”

“You can be having a beautiful day, surrounded by friends, and your brain can continuously ruin it,” he said. “No matter how good or bad your life is, you can still hate yourself. I’ve got to ask myself why am I feeling the ways I’m feeling?”

Matheson plays Neil Fak in The Bear, a comedy-drama first released in 2022. He announced a UK and European tour of his new cookbook, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, which was released in 2024. The actor will visit Belfast's Ulster Hall on June 6.
