Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars Make It Two in A Row
Uptown Funk is the end of year No.1 in Ireland
Mark Ronson scored a double Christmas whammy by holding onto the official Irish Christmas No.1 slot over the festive period, with the rocking 'Uptown Funk'. The single features the hugely popular Bruno Mars on vocalse. ‘Uptown Funk’ has already been viewed almost 60 million times on YouTube.
The duo foiled new X-Factor winner Ben Haenow from gaining an immediate No.1 with ’Something I Need’. It will be interesting to see how Haenow – and indeed the industry as a whole – reacts to that disappointment as 2015 develops. The biggest mover in the upper reaches of the last Chart of 2014 was Taylor Swift, whose ‘Blank Space’ leapt from No.14 to No.5. Meanwhile Hozier’s seminal ‘Take Me To Church’ completed an extraordinary 65th week in the charts, still inside the Top10, at No.8.
The hardy seasonal perennial ‘Fairytale of New York’ featured once again, dropping from No.10 to No.14. The highest new entry is Alesso (feat. Tove Lo)’s ‘Heroes (We Could Be)’ – nothing to David Bowie’s classic 'Heroes’ – which is in at No.18. Alesso might well go on to be an early new year No.1. Meanwhile, The High Hopes choir dropped from No.5 to No.21 with their version of Kodaline’s ‘High Hopes’.
