Mark Logan tribute night for Roisin Dubh
The charity event takes place next week.
“Mad About Mark”; a celebratory night of music takes place in the Roisin Dubh on Friday 27 March with DJs and musicians from all over the country coming to pay their respects to the memory of Mark Logan while raising money for three very worthwhile local charities.
Much loved percussionist with Disconauts, Mark Logan sadly passed away one year ago. Mad About Mark has been put together to raise awareness and funds for Jigsaw Galway, HandInHandWest and Galway Simon Community.
Padraic from Disconauts spoke about the event. “We (Disconauts), Kevin Healy (Roisin Dubh) and Mark’s family and friends wanted to something to honour the wonderful man he was. Mark had such a positive impact on people through his music and his work and we want to continue that in some way.”
“Mad About Mark will be an annual event that celebrates his memory but also raises awareness and much needed funds for the three charities. All acts on the night – local and national – are giving their services for free and we’re thrilled that every cent raised is going to HandInHandWest, Galway Simon Community and Jigsaw.”
There will be two rooms of music on the night - everything from latin to house and disco to folk – Fish Go Deep, Get Down Edits, Together Disco, Arveene, Shake DJs Aran & Ray, Disconauts and Anthony Collins play downstairs while Mark's brother Bernie Logan curates a room of Galway's finest musicians upstairs with a joyful, raucous folk/trad/singalong session.
Galway Simon Community is a homeless charity who provides housing, support and health care services to the homeless in the West of Ireland.
Jigsaw Galway is a free, non-judgemental and confidential support service for young people (15-25) living in Galway city and county who provide guidance and support for young people who are going through a difficult or distressing time.
HandInHandWest are a local based charity who provide practical support for families in Ireland whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer.
