Majesty Shredding
More of the same
At some point in the ‘90s big tough punk rockers were hit by a Martian sugar-ray and suddenly distorted electric guitars and ‘feelings’ were at the forefront of a glucose-filled emo-implosion. At the forefront of this turn towards the major-chord-side of life was a power-pop indie band called Superchunk, who emphasised the sweet in bittersweet and the “aw” in rawk. Now back, presumably with mortgages and stress in their lives as opposed to teenage sweethearts and angst, they still sound the same with crunchy guitars and wistful lyrics. This is grand I suppose... if you liked that sort of thing in the first place... which I didn’t (sorry).
Key track: ‘Crossed Wires’
