Why Kanye's his only competition, how Russell Brand saved him on live TV and being "the best rapper on the planet".
It's the one hip-hop heads are dying for – Danny Brown does his Longitude thing on the Heineken Stage this Sunday evening. Ahead of the charismatic, frenetic Detroit performer's appearance, we bring you a properly classic interview with the man.
It could have been a disaster – trying to go cold turkey while on a European tour, in the lead-up to his chat with Craig Fitzpatrick, Brown had walked out of a Guardian interview and been rude and unresponsive to another journo (later apologising online).
In the event, he felt he'd finally kicked the lean and was charm personified backstage in Dublin's Academy. At times funny, at times unflinchingly honest, he talked about addiction, music, Detroit, Kanye West, featuring on GTA V, chaotic appearances on TV with A$AP Rocky and Russell Brand, and much more.
