"It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard," one fan wrote online in response to Dylan's cover of the classic track.
The Outlaw Music Festival Tour kicked off at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, Arizona, last night – and featured a special performance of The Pogues' 'A Rainy Night In Soho' by Bob Dylan.
The cover – reportedly Dylan's live debut of the Shane MacGowan-penned track – capped off his set at the festival.
Fans have shared clips of the performance online – with one describing it as "the most beautiful thing I've ever heard."
Dylan's set also included 'Mr Tamborine Man', 'To Ramona', 'Forgetful Heart' , 'I'll Be Your Baby Tonight', 'It Ain't Me Babe', 'All Along The Watchtower', 'It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry', 'Under Red Sky', and 'Scarlet Town', as well as covers of 'I'll Make It All Up To You' (originally recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis), George "Wild Child" Butler's 'Axe And The Wind', and Bobby Troup's 'Route 66'.
The line-up for the 2025 edition of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour includes Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Sheryl Crow, Turnpike Troubadours, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, The Red Clay Strays, Lake Street Dive, Waxahatchee, Charles Wesley Godwin, Lucinda Williams, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, Trampled By Turtles, The Mavericks, Sierra Hull, Willow Avalon, Waylon Payne, Madeline Edwards, Lily Meola, Myron Elkins, Tami Neilson, and more.

When Dylan last played Dublin as part of his Rough and Rowdy Ways, which came to the 3Arena in November 2022, he addressed the crowd only once, to send a greeting to Shane MacGowan – describing him as "one of our favourite artists."
"We hope he makes another record soon," he added – speaking just over a year before MacGowan's death, aged 65. "'Fairytale Of New York' is close to all of our hearts and we listen to it every Christmas..."
Last year, the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa played host to the exhibition They Gave The Walls A Talking, dedicated to the extraordinary musical and creative legacy of Shane MacGowan and The Pogues. Curated by Hot Press editor Niall Stokes, in collaboration with EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, it was the Center’s first exhibition to focus on a musical artist other than Bob Dylan. They Gave The Walls A Talking had previously opened in Dublin in December 2023.
