Long Distance
The first single from the Mercury Prize nominee’s second album sees Turin Brakes in fine fettle. Unsurprisingly, their musical direction hasn’t altered too drastically (acoustic guitars and rabbit-in-the-headlights vocal vibratos still prevail), but there are subtle maturities in the songwriting and production that ensure that the rehash isn’t conning fans out of their money. Not as magical as ‘Underdog’, but an impressive effort nonetheless.
