Lizzo returns with new single 'Don't Make Me Love U'
The pop ballad has officially debuted after being teased on Saturday Night Live almost a year ago. A satirical yet sentimental music video has been released to accompany the song.
Lizzo is back with new single 'Don't Make Me Love U' to usher in her newest musical chapter.
The track is a powerful pop ballad with an infectious beat. Lizzo's vocals have a soulful '80s flair, reminiscent of Tina Turner.
'Don't Make Me Love U' was produced by Lizzo's longtime collaborator Ricky Reed (Jason Derulo, Twenty One Pilots), as well as Cheche Alara (Lady Gaga).
To accompany the single, she has released a surreal and somewhat satirical music video, which depicts present-day Lizzo in conflict with her past self.
Watch the music video, directed by Tanner K. Williams and shot by Bentley Rawle, below.
The four-time Grammy winner has been keeping busy. Last June, she released surprise mixtape MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING and followed it up in September with a deluxe version, titled MY FACE STILL HURTS FROM SMILING. The mixtapes featured collaborations with SZA, Lil Jon, Tierra Whack, and Doja Cat.
Lizzo debuted 'Don't Make Me Love U' last April while hosting Saturday Night Live. Originally intended for her fifth studio album Love In Real Life, the LP has since been shelved, and whether or not it will release remains to be seen.
In other Lizzo news, she's a new author. Her first children's book, titled Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin', is set for release on Tuesday, September 8.
