LISTEN: Scrapped Aphex Twin album hits the internet
Thank a Kickstarter campaign and hardcore fans of electronic composer Richard D James for securing the test pressing of Caustic Window.
If you've been patiently waiting for electronic genius Aphex Twin to deliver his first new album proper since 2001's Drukqs, here's the next best thing.
An extremely rare Aphex Twin record, Caustic Window, has just hit the web. Stream it below.
The LP reached the test pressing phase back in the mid '90s, but was scrapped before reaching the wider public.
Now fans from the We Are The Music Makers forum have, with the help of a Kickstarter campaign, raised over £20,000 and secured the purchase of the almost-lost album.
The original seller claims it is one of five test pressings, given to him by Richard D James' Rephlex Records. The fans are now aiming to sell it via eBay and send a third of the profits to James in royalties, a third to Kickstarter contributors, and a third to charity.
