LISTEN: First new Violent Femmes track in 15 years
They've a new EP on the way for Record Store Day.
We haven't heard fresh Violent Femmes material since 2000, but the Milwaukee trio are finally ready to grace us with some more.
'Love Love Love Love Love' is the brand new track (recorded on New Year's Eve in Hoboken, Tasmania, don't cha know) and very Femmes-sounding it is too. That is to say, stripped back, immediately catchy and damn good.
More is t follow, as the band plan the release of the four-track Happy New Year EP. That lands on April 18 as part of Record Store Day.
They have been touring of late, so if the new stuff gets a bit of traction it might inspire more recording and (fingers crossed) an Irish date down the line.
