Limerick to host guitar festival
Limerick is to play host to Ireland's first ever Guitar Festival and Acoustic Academy.
Dolan's, Future Sound and Vision, Cort Guitars and Limerick guitarist Jay Mitchell have joined forces to bring you a ten-day guitaring extravaganza which runs from August 13-17 and August 20-24.
The Academy will feature lessons, workshops, maintenance and performance tips, topped off by a masterclass from a visiting artist - all of which shall no doubt to turn you into an acoustic Andrés Segovia.
Only 30 places are available for the Academy, so early booking is advised. The price of a place is €365 - contact Jay at Future Sound and Vision on 061 207 955, or at Future Sound and Vision, William Street, Limerick.
As for the Festival, you'll be able to find everything from Clive Carroll's Celtic wizardry and jazz-master David Irwin, to the heart-wrenching melodies of Eoin Coughlan and Gordon Giltrap's phenomenal skills.
A special discounted Concert Pass priced at €135 will cover all ten concerts over the two weeks.
However, if you're a player as well as a music-lover, an All-In-One pass costing €500 might be more up your street . . . Bookings can be made from www.dolanspub.com or over the phone at 061 314 483.
