Lily Allen's West End Girl portrait on display at National Portrait Gallery
"This is a very important moment for me as an artist that the painting has come off the album cover and that people can now enjoy it in person," said Nieves González.
Lily Allen's West End Girl portrait has been put on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The work was commissioned from artist Nieves González as the album cover for Allen's latest album West End Girl. The painting shows Allen seated on a stool, wearing a baby blue puffer jacket and white and black polka dot boots. It went on display on Thursday and will be available for public viewing for a year.
West End Girl, Allen's first album in seven years, was released on October 24, 2025. The 14-track record is described as a pop marital memoir detailing the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour, including alleged infidelity following an agreement to try nonmonogamy. The album earned three Brit Award nominations: Best Album, Artist of the Year, and Pop Act.
“I’m really proud of this album and I’m proud of the creative direction that we took in commissioning this piece from Nieves,” said Allen in her recent Instagram post.
González is a 29-year-old Spanish painter, known for her modernisation of Spanish Baroque.
“This is a very important moment for me as an artist that the painting has come off the album cover and that people can now enjoy it in person, it is very important for me as an artist and for the women of today,” said González.
Following the album's release, Allen announced a tour to perform West End Girl in its entirety. The tour began in Glasgow on March 2. She will be performing in Dublin at the 3arena on June 30 and July 1, 2026.
