Ozzy Osbourne to be honoured with BRITs Lifetime Achievement Award
The founder and frontman of Black Sabbath passed away last July, aged 76.
The BRIT Awards have announced that Ozzy Osbourne will be honoured with the BRITs Lifetime Achievement Award at this week's ceremony.
The event is being held for the first time in its 50-year history outside of London, taking place in Manchester's Co-op Live on February 28.
A tribute performance fronted by Robbie Williams, and curated by Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, will take place as the closing show of the ceremony.
The "all-star rock tribute performance" is set to feature musicians who played as part of Ozzy's band over the years, including Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujilo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde.
The tribute will also feature a special arrangement of the title track ‘No More Tears’ from Ozzy's 1991 record of the same title.
"Ozzy Osbourne has been a mighty force in modern music," said Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records at Sony Music UK, Stacey Tang. "Possessing an unmistakable voice and unique presence, he reshaped the sound and spirit of rock, inspiring generations of artists who followed.
"This Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a remarkable legacy built on originality and enduring influence, that continues to connect with fans worldwide."
Some of the artists who have been nominated for awards at this year's ceremony include Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Sam Fender, Lily Allen and CMAT. The Dunboyne singer-songwriter, who released her third studio album Euro-Country this past August, has been nominated for Best International Artist.
"There's a love that I have for show business... y'know," said Ozzy to Hot Press in 2002. "It's not that I want to be a rock star or I want to be a television star, it's just that I love being a public figure who can make someone's day by posing for a picture with them or signing an autograph.
"If I can make them happy, then I'm going to be happy as well. And I'm not just trying to be cool, because most of the time I'm scared fucking shitless. Every single time I go on stage I'm thinking: ‘Oh man, I'm not going to pull this off. I'm too old, I can't do it any more. I should't be here because I'm 53 and I've got the shales."
