Johnny Marr announces new album The Age of Everything
Alongside the announcement, Marr released new single 'Spin'.
Johnny Marr has announced his new album, The Age of Everything, which is set to release on October 2 via BMG. This will be Marr's fifth solo studio album.
"This is the record that’s been the most cathartic,” said Marr. “The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea. It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling."
The album will have ten songs, with new song, 'Spin', as the lead single. The former Smiths guitarist wrote the album in London and developed it live on the road across the East Coast of North America.
Marr separated from the Smiths in 1987 due to personal differences between Marr and Morrissey. Marr began his solo career in 2013 with his debut solo album, The Messenger.
He will perform his largest-ever solo headline show at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl on July 9, the night before the Dublin gig at Iveagh Gardens on July 10.
The presale will run from 10am on Wednesday June 17 until the general sale which starts at 10am on Friday June 19. Fans who pre-order The Age Of Everything from the official artist album store will receive access to an exclusive fan presale for the dates.
