The Eurovision luminary has gone straight into no. 3 in the Irish singles chart
The Irish public have shown they hanker after some 80's nostalgia as Johnny Logan pips Duke Special in the chart battle sparked by RTE's new series 'The Hit.'
Logan and Duke Special both selected songs by new writers with the former opting for Alan Earls' 'Prayin'' and the latter favouring 16 year old Aaron Hackett's song '1969.'
Logan's song has shot straight into no. 3 in the chart, pipping Duke Special who lands in at no. 5 in the list.
'Prayin'' has clocked up almost 2,000 downloads since last Friday and is Logan's biggest Irish hit since his second Eurovision winning song 'Hold Me Now' in 1987.
However, the the Dubliner's singing voice could not dislodge Avicii from the top spot, nor is it the highest new entry to the singles chart as Ellie Goulding's track 'Burn' goes straight in at no. 2.
