Jackie Hayden to open painting exhibition
Hot Press writer and author Jackie Hayden will open the forthcoming exhibition by painter Dave Daly as part of the Wexford Opera Festival.
Hot Press's Jackie Hayden will officially open Dave Daly exhibition at the Pump House in Ardcavan. It will, for the first time, include a selection of Daly’s recently-completed oil paintings.
The official opening of Daly’s exhibition Drawn to Wild Places will take place at 4 pm on Saturday October 18. It will continue until Monday October 27, and will be the 12th time Daly has exhibited at the venue, which is located on the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve.
According to Daly, “To date, my work has generally been in the area of watercolours, but I have for some time wanted to expand into other styles of painting. With the recent opening of Wexford’s magnificent new opera house, it seemed an appropriate time to introduce some examples of my work in oils alongside my usual selection of birdlife and landscapes. I’m very satisfied with my new works, and I hope they will prove to be as popular with the public as my birdlife paintings are.”
Daly first began exhibiting his work in 1988, and has mounted over 20 showings of his work since then. He has illustrated several books, including The Complete Garden Bird Book, Bill Oddie’s Birds of Britain and, more recently, Wild Dublin.
The exhibition Drawn to Wild Places will be open from 11am to 4pm every day.
