The Crush picks up 'Best Short Film' nomination at 83rd Academy Awards
Michael Creagh's short film The Crush has given the Irish something to shout about at this year's Oscars ceremony with a nod in the 'Best Short Film' category as the nominations were announced in LA this afternoon.
Irish films have had success in the 'Short Film' category before with Martin McDonagh's Six Shooter picking up the golden statuette in 2005 so Hot Press fingers are crossed for similar accolades.
Historical drama The King's Speech leads the nominations with 12, including Best Picture and acting nods for Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.
Other Best Picture nominees are Black Swan, The Kids Are All Right, The Fighter, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, Winter's Bone and Hot Press Film Critic Roe McDermott's Film of the Year, Inception.
