Stage version of Eimear McBride's A Girl Is A Half-formed Thing has cleaned up at the Fringe
The stage adaptation of A Girl Is A Half-formed Thing, the award-winning novel by Eimear McBride (pictured), has collected three awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The book, the inner narrative of a girl from the womb to her early adulthood - earned its fair share of silverware when published two years ago - including the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year and the Goldsmiths Prize - so it's little surprise that the theatrical version has followed suit.
The play, which was adapted for the stage by Corn Exchange founder and director Annie Ryan, saw Moone Boy star Aoife Duffin claim the Stage Acting Award, while the production also claimed the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award 2015 and an award to recognise outstanding new work, The Scotsman Fringe First Award.
The play will head on the road next year for a UK tour, before opening up in New York in April.
Meanwhile, McBride is interviewed in the new issue of Hot Press, where she talks to Roisin Dwyer about her success, as well as her involvement in the new anthology The Long Gaze Back.
