Irish Invastion for Boston!
Move over South By Southwest and CMJ…Irish acts are flocking to Boston next month in a bid to get their music heard by industry bigwigs in the US.
Saucy Monky [right], Leya, Waiting Room, Stars of the City, The Bleedin Bleedins,The Mouse, Baby Jenks and Niall James Holohan have been selected to perform at the 8th Annual New England Music Festival.
The Irish Invasion Showcase in Boston, which is being held in conjunction with IMRO and Substance markets, will be held on October 1st and 2nd.
"Boston and Ireland have a rich history together, so it makes perfect sense to add an event such as the Irish Invasion Showcase to NEMO. We wanted to build on that connection and shine a strong spotlight on the incredible talent that continues to come from Ireland", says Chip Rives, CEO and owner of the NEMO Conference and Festival. "Touring Irish acts such as Damien Rice, The Frames, The Thrills and of course U2 always get a warm welcome when they come to Boston. There is a large Irish community here that love to come out and support Irish music", adds Rives.
Among the international acts playing at the festival are The Von Bondies, Keane, Flogging Molly, and The Black Keys.
