If we haven't said it once, we've said it a bijillion times. 2015 was a pivotal moment in Irish cinema.
Now our proud Irish films are making their way Stateside. Sing Street, The Lobster and Love and Friendship have all been issued with US release dates. Each film was supported extensively by the Irish Film Board and is testament to Ireland's flourishing film industry.
John Carney's Sing Street is a reigning critic success, remaining in Ireland's top-five box-office films despite having been released over a month ago. Carney's feel-good film has almost reached the €1 million mark here and is currently playing in 26 screens nationwide. It's been released in the US now and is off to a strong start while it will open in the UK in May. The stellar cast including Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Jack Reynor and Aidan Gillen is almost surpassed by its smashing soundtrack.
Meanwhile Yorgos Lanthimos' eccentric comedy The Lobster starring Colin Farrel and Rachel Weiss also received huge appraisal with $8.7 million accumalted in the UK and Ireland alone. The film will reach US audiences on May 13.
Love and Friendship was a major hit at this years Sundance festival and will continue to make waves in US cinemas on May 13. An adaptation of a Jane Austen novel, the film was shot in Ireland and includes Kate Beckingsale, Stephen Fry and Xavier Samuel amongst its cast.

Having these films reach the US is a sign of what's to come in Irish cinema. In 2015, Irish films took in over $53 million in international box-office figures. Brooklyn alone raked in $60 million, whilst Lenny Abrahamson's Room bears an impressive $53 million to date.
