Irish AIDS Day to highlight national health issues
Durex and the Dublin AIDS Alliance are hoping to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, as well as lobby government to develop a National Sexual Health Strategy
Durex has announced its support for Irish AIDS Day, which takes place today, 15 June. The day is designed to encourage people to consider the impact AIDS/HIV is having on communities throughout the country. Currently, at least one person a day is diagnosed HIV positive in Ireland.
“We hope that Irish AIDS Day stimulates the debate surrounding AIDS/HIV and the spread of STIs," Rosie Lodge, Durex brand manager told hotpress.com “At the root of the problem is ignorance and misunderstanding – we all have responsibility to find out the facts and make sure all those around us are adequately informed of the dangers.”
Durex supports the Dublin AIDS Alliance call for better and wider condom distribution, investment in prevention strategies – and a firm commitment from the Irish Government to tackle the issue of AIDS head-on, through the development of a National Sexual Health Strategy.
* Watch out for the Sperm Man on your travels around Dublin today!
* AIDS Alliance will also be distributing free condom samples in the city.
* Durex worked alongside The Dublin AIDS Alliance, Limerick Red Ribbon Project, Irish Family Planning Association, AIDS West and Sexual Health Centre Cork on Sexual Health Awareness Week 2005, which focussed on sexual health among young people and on the impact of STIs and unplanned. pregnancies
