I Am Rock
A rather fabulous slice of nu-glam from an odd little Irishman who won’t be obscure much longer. The title track is shameless, raucous and entirely successful as an homage to, and parody of, ’70s self-indulgence. The two B-sides are equally enjoyable, and see the Kid veering happily between Beck and Neil Young before coming to rest on his own idiosyncratic turf. Worth many listens – and watch out for the name.
