Tickets for their Belfast show are available now at ticketmaster.ie
Belfast-based ‘tradtronica’ group Huartan have announced they will be coming to Mandela Hall in Belfast on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The concert marks the official launch of their new album Rising of the Moon, which is set for release on that day (October 24) and is part of a broader tour.
The band are also set to play Connolly's of leap in Cork on October 26, Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin in Derry on November 1, and Monroes in Galway on November 2, along with the Belfast show.
Huartan's mission is to reconnect contemporary audiences with the oral singing tradition and native language of Ulster. Their music is rooted in anti-colonial and anti-capitalist ideals and showcases pre-christian and mythic Ireland.
The group previously won Hot Press' Amhrán na Laoch and also received the NI Music Prize 2024 for Live Act of the Year.
Along with the concert announcement, the trio also have a new single out tomorrow, Friday, October 3, titled 'Dúlamán'.
A much loved Donegal folk tune, Huartan will be putting their electronic spin on the song which was famously covered by the likes of Clannad.
On the surface, 'Dúlamán' is a playful conversation between a father and his daughter’s suitors, each named after different types of seaweed. Some hear in this a metaphor for female sexual autonomy, as the daughter teases and resists her suitors. Others have linked the song to the Irish famine, when seaweed was central to sustenance and trade.
